DESCRIPTION:This free web-based aims to support development practition
 ers who are working to strengthen gender equality in relation to gover
 nance processes in their workplace. To support them this course seeks 
 to equip participants with an introductory knowledge that can help the
 m to take forward strategies for positive change.\nWhat the course con
 tains: The course contains four main modules. Each module presents key
  messages, learning activities, and includes an interesting collection
  of resources. \nLearning outcomes: By the end of the course particip
 ants will be able to:\n\nAppreciate the differing understandings of go
 vernance and how the concept has evolved over time\nUnderstand why gov
 ernance needs to be gender-sensitive despite the barriers and challeng
 es to this goal\nBe able to analyse governance institutions, particula
 rly government institutions, from a gender perspective to expose gende
 r-blind policy and discriminatory practices\nAppreciate the context of
  gender and governance in Nigeria\nUnderstand how change can happen in
  government institutions themselves so they respond better to the need
 s of women, challenge gender inequality and promote women’s rights\n
 Be aware of the mechanisms that need to be in place to ensure governme
 nt institutions are held to account for their record on promoting gend
 er equality by civil society and citizen\nUnderstand what gender-sensi
 tive governance could and should look like, and understand the practic
 al actions to progress towards this goals\nKnow about the real-world c
 hallenges to change that are commonly faced, be inspired by other stor
 ies of practical action, and be aware of useful guides and toolkits \
 n\n \nDate- The course starts on 1st September and runs until Monday 
 15th September. During this time facilitators from the Gender Hub te
 am will actively support participants in problem solving and answer qu
 estions related to the course. After this period, registered learners
  will continue to have access to the platform until the end of Septemb
 er 2014.\nWe expect learners to invest a minimum of 4 hours study time
  for this course (1 hour per module). We expect individuals to be self
 -lead and manage their own time within the 15-day period, so that they
