 owards the government’s goal of an open-defecation free India by Oct
 ober 2019. Over 9.5 crore toilets have been built and 30 states have b
 een declared open-defecation free. How can we build on this progress a
 nd achieve safely-managed sanitation for all?\nTo address this questio
 n, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) has been s
 upporting an evidence programme to identify effective approaches for
  improving latrine use in rural India. At the Promoting latrine use f
 or Swachh Bharat conference, research teams will share the results an
 d policy implications of recently completed impact evaluations in Biha
 r, Gujarat, Karnataka and Odisha. These evaluations examined the impac
 t of low-cost, innovative, behavioural science-driven interventions to
  promote latrine use. We will also share our insights from a unique la
