DESCRIPTION:This is an invitation to register for the on-line “Trans
 itions to Sustainable Development – Social scientists meeting the ch
 allenge” e-conference which will run from 25 August – 8 September.
 \nThis e-conference builds on the challenges set out through the prior
 ity action steps suggested in the World Social Science Report 2013 s
 ummary.This e-conference aims to:\n\nshowcase the range of social scie
 nce initiatives addressing global and local environmental change\niden
 tify ways in which the social sciences can help society manage transit
 ions to sustainable development\nlook at how to strengthen the use of 
 the social sciences in addressing global and local environmental chang
 e\nsupport social science leadership in integrated research\nengage wi
 th new colleagues and strengthen the social science community of pract
 ice\n\nThe e-conference will be run as a moderated online discussion u
 sing the Transitions to Sustainable Development (TSD) network Forum,
  and will be hosted on the “engaged Social Science / Hui Rangahau Ta
 hi” (eSocSci) website. An archive of the conference discussion and s
 elected blog postings will be mirrored on the eSocSci and Learning for
  Sustainability sites.\nThis e-conference is expected to have wide re
 levance - and will be of particular interest to social scientists and 
 those who use and integrate social science, including research, commun
 ity and sector leaders, indigenous groups, policy makers and R&D funde
 rs/donors. Participation is free, and there are no travel costs. More
