The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves recently released a new publication, a white paper on gender-based violence in humanitarian settings. We also released a request for applications (RFA) for a research study to evaluate the links between clean and efficient cookstove interventions and GBV. Please find more information below, and feel free to share with your networks:
Publication: Gender-based Violence in Humanitarian Settings: Cookstoves and Fuels
As aid agencies and NGOs worldwide increase their focus on providing lifesaving aid, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves wants to ensure that the critical energy needs of crisis-affected people are met, especially those of the women and girls, who risk their safety just to collect the fuel needed to cook their families’ meals. This paper outlines evidence and highlight gaps in knowledge on the impact that adoption of clean and/or efficient cookstoves and fuels can have on reducing the risk and incidence of gender-based violence (GBV). The purpose of this literature review was to examine existing project data and research in order to evaluate the evidence base, better understand whether humanitarian energy programs intending to reduce GBV measured their impacts, and learn whether these projects actually reduced risk or incidence of GBV.
Request for Applications: Gender-based Violence & Clean and Efficient Cookstove and Fuel Interventions in Humanitarian Settings
The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is pleased to announce a request for applications (RFA) to support research to evaluate and increase understanding of the links between clean and/or efficient cookstove and fuel interventions and GBV in humanitarian settings, with preference given to studies that take place in Rwanda. All Alliance partners are eligible to apply. Up to $200,000 will be available to support one study over a 12-month period, dependent on scope and scale of activities proposed. Letters of Intent are highly encouraged and are due on September 19, 2016. Applications are due on October 21, 2016 at 11:59 pm EDT. Please submit all inquiries, letters of intent, and full applications to email@example.com.
