To ensure they can operate with the highest level of effectiveness in Southeast Asia, they will soon make a transition into a new local Indonesian entity (Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial/Yayasan Hivos).

We’re looking for a passionate advocate who won’t be afraid to stand up for LGBTI rights, women’s empowerment and sustainability in a challenging political environmental. At the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change we are dedicated to making globalisation work for the many, not the few. We do this by helping countries, their people and their governments, address some of the most difficult challenges in the world today – beginning with those where we think we can break new ground, offering leaders new thinking and new approaches. Our people – over 200 of them, based all over the world – are working on some of the most intractable problems around issues of co-existence, governance, the peace process in the Middle East and renewing the centre.
Focus of the Role:
The scope of work and required experience for this engagement are:
 
Know-How:

• Continue existing relationships and initiate new relationships with state and local government partners in the Generation Global programme, in line with the programme strategy, and with the support of the Head of Project / Head of Education.
• Continue existing relationships and initiate new relationships with a diverse set of NGOs and companies with aligned values, in line with the programme strategy.
• Working with the fundraising team to assist with developing funding relationships for South Asia, including scouting new leads and writing project proposals.
• Work with the MEL team to ensure appropriate MEL planning and delivery for the project across S. Asia
• Facilitate Generation Global videoconference dialogues.
 
Accountability:

• Working with the fundraising team, develop understanding of South Asia’s regional  fundraising and business development market by mapping donor opportunities against the programme strategy (predominantly: Foundation offices; bilateral and multilateral donor agency offices and staff; development contractors and INGOs – both not-for profit and for-profit);
• Input into the development of marketing materials, presentations, bids and visit and meeting briefs, as required.
 
Responsibility:

• Work with the country and regional coordinators to recruit and maintain school engagement in the project. 
• Work with the country and regional coordinators and the Education and Training Unit to organise and deliver teacher trainings for newly registered teachers.
• Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team in Head Office to ensure that appropriate data from the region is collected in line with the MEL plan.
• Represent TBI at regional and national conferences and trainings, as appropriate.
• Deliver training to Education Advisors and country coordinators and support inductions of new project staff on the Institute’s education work.
• Travel to programme areas to deliver training and capacity development activities, conduct needs assessments, develop and implement strategies, and monitor and quality assure project activities.
 
Judgement:

• Advise the Education and Training team on considerations for appropriate local design and implementation of education needs assessments, development of associated regional/country strategies and development of Generation Global pedagogy and resources.
• Identify and develop relevant partnerships that build profile for and advance the Institute and the pillar’s education work.
 
Ambition:

• Support the Head of Education and Training to develop new approaches, projects and research to support policy positions and programme design.
• Contribute appropriate advice and insight towards thought leadership products within the Institute on education in collaboration with Institute colleagues.
What We Look For in Our People:
This role provides oversight and leadership to our programmatic work across South Asia, managing country coordinators and lead teachers, and accountable to the Head of Generation Global.
 
The role will be required to strengthen relationships with governments (local, state, national) on incorporating the Generation Global materials into the state-mandated curricula. As the India Office develops, there will be a requirement for the Education Lead to also be involved in initiating and managing fundraising efforts for the region. The role involves supervision of an India country consultant, two Pakistan country consultants, and three Lead Teachers in Pakistan.
 
This role is an exciting opportunity to expand and strengthen the work of Generation Global in South Asia. We recently completed our three-year strategy for South Asia, and the new Project Manager would step into that strategy and deliver it.

Abt Associates is looking for a Deputy Executive Director for an anticipated DFID programme, starting in January 2020.

Program Overview

The African Cities Research Programme, valued at 32.75 million GBP, will generate new, operationally relevant evidence to help tackle the most significant problems constraining growth and development in individual African cities. It will integrate ‘political settlements’ approaches with the concept of ‘the city as a system’ to provide the conceptual framework for tackling integrated sets of complex, priority problems—contributing to a greater understanding of ‘what works’ (and what does not), for whom, where and why, in policies and programmes.

The intended outcome is for the new knowledge and evidence to lead to the development of, and investment in, more effective economic development and poverty reduction policies and programmes in African cities by DFID and its partners. Initially the programme will focus on about 12 cities and will subsequently narrow down to 5-8.

The Role

The Deputy Executive Director is part of the Senior Management Team and will oversee the finance, contracts/procurement, HR, security and all operational aspects of programme.

The Deputy Executive Director is responsible, among other things, for:

  • Overseeing the finance, procurement, administration, logistics and all operational aspects of programme. Includes supervising and nurturing performance of Operations Team and deputising for the Consortium Executive Director as required.
  • Overseeing the subcontract/grants management cycle, from pre-award to post-award, in close coordination with the Research Team, and supporting grant recipient capacity building
  • Supervising procurement, negotiation and contracting with consultants and delivery partners, including due diligence and ensuring all downstream delivery partners comply with DFID’s supply partner code of conduct. Performance manage delivery partners.
  • Overseeing programme finance, including ensuring robust financial management systems and processes, financial forecasting and value for money reporting
  • Oversight of programme monitoring, evaluation and learning,

Key Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience managing programme operations
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking in a leadership role and contributing to large scale programmes
  • Experience in overseeing grant management and in designing and organising procurement of technical assistance; consultants and organisational partners,
  • Experience of overseeing financial management functions and work planning
  • Experience of negotiating, conducting due diligence and performance managing organisational partners and consultants.
  • Experience of developing and establish operational procedures and structures
  • Experience of contributing to high quality donor reporting
  • Experience in oversight of programme/project monitoring, evaluation and learning
  • Experience of building and managing relationships with high level stakeholders from government, civil society and donors      
  • Proven success in building strong working teams across geographically dispersed teams in complex environments

Evaluation RFP - Central Coast Mental Health School District Collaborative

CALM is pleased to share this RFP seeking qualified consulting firms, academic institutions and individuals to evaluate the impact and achievements of the Central Coast Mental Health School District Collaborative (CCMHSDC).

The CCMHSDC is an exciting new initiative through which CALM clinicians are providing Mental Health Consultation services in elementary schools in three school districts throughout Santa Barbara County. CALM seeks an evaluator to measure intervention efficacy and program outcomes at the individual student, classroom, school and school district levels and to investigate wether the CCMHSDC provides evidence of an intervention model capable of longitudinal impact to instigate community change.
