Funding for impact evaluation of programmes for adolescents in South Asia

3ie RFQ: Proposal preparation grants for the impact evaluation of initiatives aimed at improving adolescents’ lives in South Asia

The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) invites submission of qualifications for proposal preparation grants for the impact evaluation of the Unicef-IKEA Foundation Regional Adolescents Programme in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan.

The programme includes a range of initiatives aimed at improving adolescent-related outcomes -- secondary school enrolment and attendance, incidence of child marriage, prevalence of anaemia and malnutrition, attitudes towards domestic violence and abuse, knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues and involvement of adolescents in armed conflict.

Research teams will be required to work in close collaboration with Unicef and other agencies involved in the implementation of the programme.

Applicants please note:

  • This call is in two phases. In the first phase, a proposal preparation grant will be awarded.
  • 3ie will award three proposal preparation grants of up to US$20,000 each in the first phase.
  • Study teams may apply for proposal preparation grants in more than one country if they fulfill the criteria.
  • It is necessary to include at least one principal investigator in a meaningful role on the study team who is a national of and resident in the country where the evaluation applies. This principal investigator should be involved in the analysis and publication, not merely in data collection.
  • Only legally registered organisations and consortia of registered organisations, not individuals, may apply.
  • Proposals received in the first phase will be reviewed and scored according to 3ie’s selection criteria and will be considered for evaluation grants in the second phase.
  • 3ie expects to support three full impact evaluations, one each in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan in the second phase.

The deadline for submitting applications is 23:59 GMT, 24 March 2015.
