F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter
Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

About the event:
The proposed coffee break session intends to provide practical knowledge in carrying out Social Network Analysis (SNA). SNA enables us to study social realities that are structured not only around the attributes of individuals, but also the social ties these individuals establish with others & the networks they get embedded with. Thus, in this session we will understand how using SNA helps us understand the various aspects of social research related to individual & group behavior, social norms, exclusion, and dominance.
To Join GENSA:
The coffee break session is open to all GENSA members. To join the GENSA Network please write to us at gensanetwork@gmail.com.
