F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

I thought that it might be useful to have a thread where members can just post web references to posts that have been made on other sites.

To start it off, I found this today:

Stop! Mind the gender gap in development discourses

Gender equality seems to have lost its resonance in recent discourses on development. Lessons from experiences in implementing the Millennium Development Goals show that countries can experience different levels of economic growth but still suffer from massive social and economic inequalities. This post recommends that it is time to pause and include gender equality as a cross-cutting theme and an anchor of development agendas if we are to attain balanced development outcomes.
