Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Rutgers is seeking Global Consultants for the End-Term Evaluation of the Right Here Right Now Programme (RHRN). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a global initiative focused on advancing the rights of young people, particularly in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The Right Here Right Now (RHRN) programme is a partnership spreading over several countries advocating for youth empowerment. The project employs approaches such as delivering inclusive comprehensive sexuality education; generating broader public support for youth SRHR; advocating for more progressive and inclusive policies; and broader social accountability for youth rights. Key mechanism to deliver this project is by building capacity of civil society organizations by a meaningful and inclusive youth participation. The evaluator(s) selected will play a crucial role in assessing the program’s achievements, effectiveness of key strategies/mechanisms and identifying key lessons for future interventions. Reference group for the project recommends employing a realist approach to evaluation more information is available in ToR.

As an early-career evaluator with a strong interest in advancing my experience in gender-sensitive and theory-driven evaluations, I am eager to collaborate with and learn from more experienced evaluators on this or other assignments.
