Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

We are pleased to invite you to a webinar on “From Recommendations to Actions: The Role of Management Responses in Promoting Evaluation Use” organized by the UNEG Use of Evaluation Working Group.
Date: Thursday, 12 September 2024.
Time: 09.00-10.00 (New York) / 15.00-16.00 (Geneva) / 16.00-17.00 (Nairobi).
We will be joined by Anna Guerraggio, Chief, Engagement and Communication, from the Independent Evaluation Office at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); and Katinka Koke, Specialist, Rebeca Lara, Trainee, and Roxana Gomez Valle, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Consultant from the Planning, Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Unit, Division for Strategic Planning and Performance (PPME) at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). They will share the results of studies on the quality of management responses that they conducted to inform actions to promote evaluation use in their organizations.
The agenda will be as follows:
· Welcome remarks by the UNEG Use of Evaluation Working Group.
· Evaluation use in UNDP: Insights from the management response system by Anna Guerraggio.
· Insights from a review of the quality of management responses to independent evaluations at UNITAR by Katinka Koke, Rebeca Lara, and Roxana Gomez Valle.
· Q&A session.
· Closing remarks by the UNEG Use of Evaluation Working Group.
The webinar will be moderated by Patrick Duerst, Evaluation Specialist, Independent Evaluation Service, UN Women and co-lead of Work Stream 1 on Good Practices for Evaluation Use within the UNEG Use of Evaluation Working Group.
