Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Request for Proposals: Joint evaluation of HIV-related capacity development initiatives in Asia and the Pacific -- 25 November 2014 deadline

Dear all,

Members of the Inter-Agency Task Team on Young Key Populations are commissioning an evaluation of HIV-related capacity development initiatives on young key populations in Asia and the Pacific. The evaluation – covering a number of countries across South and Southeast Asia – will be contracted in 2014, and is to be conducted during the first half of 2015.

 The deadline for submission of offers is 25 November 2014, in line with the instructions to bidders detailed in the RFP.
