Evaluation of UN Women’s Work on the Care Economy in East and Southern Africa

A regional study of gender equality observatories in West and Central Africa, carried out by Claudy Vouhé for UN Women

Sources: UN Women

This regional study offers an inventory and analysis of the legal framework of gender observatories, their attributions, functions and missions. It is based on exchanges with 21 countries, in particular the eleven countries that have created observatories. It compares the internal organisation and budgets of the observatories between countries, looks at operational practices, in particular the degree of involvement in the collection and use of data, and identifies obstacles and good practices in terms of influencing pro-gender equality public policies. Finally, the study draws up a list of strategic recommendations intended for observatories, supervisory bodies and technical and financial partners.

A press release is a powerful medium for communicating the news and events related to your business organization. If you can manage to create an SEO-friendly press release, you can remain assured that it will function as your companion and will help you in your SEO efforts.

A proper press release strategy will enable you to get good quality backlinks from other websites. In this article, we will learn about how to use press releases for Search Engine Optimization or SEO, but before that, we must learn how press releases help with SEO. Let’s start.

How do press releases help with SEO?

Press releases help in the SEO efforts by promoting content marketing discovery and creating citations for local SEO. It also helps to protect your online reputation. However, you should keep this in your mind that the advantages of press releases will be indirect. Whether you're focusing on global outreach or niche strategies like Russian SEO, press releases can support your visibility when executed correctly.

Effective ways of using press releases for SEO

Some of the effective ways of using press releases for SEO are as follows:

Create an eye-catchy headline

When reading anything, the first thing which readers or search engines notice is the headline. An eye-catchy headline will create interest in the minds of readers and will persuade them to click into your page and see the content. An attractive title is very much helpful for traffic generation as it can attract substantial traffic to your website. It will also be helpful when you are starting distribution. Sharing a press release with an eye-catchy title to the right consumers and sources can increase your reach significantly.

Optimize the initial 250 words

When you are writing a press release, make sure to provide some relevant information which forms the basis of the subject matter of your press release in the first 250 lines of your press release. This should be done because of two reasons:
• If the relevant content is present at the first part of your press release, it will be easier for the search engine algorithms to understand your press release.
• Providing the relevant information at the first part of your press release will ensure that your readers will feel interested and read the entire content of your press release.

Use hyperlinks in an appropriate manner

One common mistake which is usually made while using press releases for SEO is over linking. It is good if you link one or two keywords but please do not over link. If you do that, it will make your press release difficult to read. Moreover, search engines may consider this as spam and ignore all your efforts altogether. They can even take strict action against your website in some extreme cases.

Provide off-site contacts and links at the end

Always provide off-site contact information of your company, along with some relevant links at the end of your press release. You should remember that some websites may not allow it but still it will be better if you provide this information as the majority of websites will point these links back to your website. This is especially useful if you're trying to build niche authority in specific markets such as Russian SEO, where localised links and credibility matter.

Press releases can help in the growth of your business while enabling your company to maintain a strong online presence. You must focus on proper ways of using press releases for SEO.
