The UN Women Training Centre offers a Certified Professional Development Programme for Gender Trainers. This certification is a 6-month programme that aims to reposition training for gender equality as a strategy to challenge and engender mainstream development and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The programme will be held October 23 2017 - 20 April 2018, and will include two face-to-face workshops in Amsterdam, Netherlands, moderated online sessions and virtual mentoring and networking.

These one‐year, paid, in‐house programs of training and mentorship allow award holders to pursue their research goals and work in one of IDRC’s dynamic program or division teams.
IDRC’s Employment and Growth program supports policy-oriented research that generates new insights and options for promoting policies that facilitate inclusive growth. This is growth that reduces inequalities and enhances access of the poor to opportunities.. Women’s economic empowerment is a priority area for the program.
The program’s flagship is the Growth and Economic Opportunities for Women (GrOW) program, a five-year program ending in 2018. GrOW is a partnership with the UK’s Department for International Development and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. It generates evidence to inform policies and practices that eliminate barriers to women’s economic empowerment and promote economic growth. The program supports 14 research projects in 50 countries that focus on key themes such as access to better paid jobs, skills training for women, and valuing and recognizing women’s challenging dual roles as caregivers and breadwinners.
The successful candidate will allocate 50% of his/her time for a research project under the guidance of a senior program officer, and will be expected to present a research plan and provide progress updates throughout the year. Employment and Growth is looking for a research award recipient to undertake research addressing women’s economic empowerment.
In the remaining 50% of his/her time, the research award recipient will contribute to the management of the final phase of the GrOW program through a variety of tasks, which may include synthesizing and disseminating project outcomes and results; participating in monitoring and evaluation; communication and learning activities; and preparing internal and external reports. Applicants should clearly outline their qualifications for this position and explain how this opportunity will advance their career goals.

It is highly desirable that the candidate is enrolled in (or has completed within the last three years) a master’s or doctoral program in either economics, international development, or policy studies with a focus on economics.
Priority will be given to proposals that fit the GrOW program’s objectives and that outline focused and feasible objectives and clearly defined methodology. Further, the proposal should demonstrate the relevance of the proposed research to local/national/regional policy debates in Asia or Africa.
