Evaluation of UN Women’s Work on the Care Economy in East and Southern Africa 

A regional study of gender equality observatories in West and Central Africa, carried out by Claudy Vouhé for UN Women

This regional study offers an inventory and analysis of the legal framework of gender observatories, their attributions, functions and missions. It is based on exchanges with 21 countries, in particular the eleven countries that have created observatories. It compares the internal organisation and budgets of the observatories between countries, looks at operational practices, in particular the degree of involvement in the collection and use of data, and identifies obstacles and good practices in terms of influencing pro-gender equality public policies. Finally, the study draws up a list of strategic recommendations intended for observatories, supervisory bodies and technical and financial partners.

This article revealed how the wildlife mobility in the corridor affects community livelihoods, mobility, and social inclusion, with a sense of differential impacts on farming and marginalised communities.

Course Description

The Certificate in Gender-Sensitive Monitoring and Evaluation is an 8-module online course that provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills to incorporate a gender perspective into monitoring and evaluation processes. With a focus on promoting gender equality and inclusivity, this course equips learners with practical tools and techniques to ensure that monitoring and evaluation efforts are sensitive to gender dynamics and contribute to transformative change.

Participants will explore key concepts such as gender analysis, gender-responsive indicators, and gender-integrated frameworks. They will learn how to conduct gender analysis, identify gender-specific issues, and collect gender-disaggregated data. The course also covers strategies for addressing gender biases and stereotypes in evaluation, engaging diverse stakeholders, and promoting social inclusion. Participants will gain an understanding of gender-transformative evaluation approaches and learn to develop gender-responsive monitoring and evaluation plans.

By the end of the course, participants will possess the knowledge and skills to mainstream gender considerations into monitoring and evaluation practices, leading to more effective and equitable development outcomes.

The course is designed for professionals working in international development, project management, program evaluation, and related fields. This course is suitable for development program managers, monitoring and evaluation officers, project coordinators, analysts, consultants, government officials, NGO staff, and researchers. It caters to individuals at different career stages, from beginners seeking foundational knowledge to experienced professionals looking to enhance their skills in monitoring and evaluation for development programs.

 

Award of the Certificates

Participants, who successfully complete all course requirements, including assignments and assessments, will be awarded a Certificate of Completion in Gender-Sensitive Monitoring and Evaluation (GSME). The certificate will highlight the skills and knowledge gained in the course, providing valuable recognition of the participant's achievements.

 

Course Fee

The course fee for is US$300. Limited partial scholarships are available for participant's from developing countries who demonstrate financial need.
