Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is not just a social issue, it’s a systemic challenge that undermines agricultural value chains.
In rural and isolated areas, GBV threatens women’s safety, limits their economic participation, and weakens food security. When women cannot work safely, entire communities lose resilience, and businesses lose productivity. Climate resilience strategies that overlook gendered risks leave communities exposed and women vulnerable.
Ending GBV is essential for building equitable, sustainable, and climate-resilient agri-food systems; and it’s not only a human rights imperative, but also central to climate adaptation and economic stability.
The good news? Solutions work. Programs like the Women’s Safety Accelerator Fund (WSAF) demonstrate that addressing GBV can enhance productivity and strengthen workforce morale and brand reputation. Safe, inclusive workplaces aren’t just good ethics, they’re smart business.

The conference has been organized in close cooperation with UNDP’s conference on National Evaluation Capacities. UNDP’s Independent Evaluation Office, in partnership with the Government of Thailand and the UNDP Regional Bureau of Asia and the Pacific, will organize the fourth International Conference on National Evaluation Capacity (NEC) at the same dates as the IDEAS Global Assembly and in the same conference facility. Running these two conferences in parallel will enable synergies and joint meetings where appropriate Joint sessions will be organized to ensure that NEC benefits from professional evaluators’ assessment of the SDG challenges and IDEAS in turn will benefit from government perspectives on evidence based policies and the role of evaluation. Keynote plenaries will be held jointly with the NEC conference, thus providing inspiration to both conferences.
The programme for IDEAS’ GA 2015 is available on this website. Delegates can expect to participate in inspiring presentations and discussions, led by top international speakers, who are experts in the field of development evaluation. The assembly offers wonderful opportunities to strengthen old relationships and to form new ones.
