F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Event Description

In this regard anInvitation for you is enclosed and we sincerely hope that you will join us for a musical evening on the 1st December 2014 and for a soccer match on the 2nd December 2014. Both these events will be led by the community groups and supported by development partners from the government, UN, NGOs, CBOs, Private Sector partners, Member of Parliaments and other national/international agencies.  

We are optimistic you will join us to show your solidarity towards the cause of HIV/AIDS prevention and towards the community members who have been most affected/afflicted. Please join and show us that you care. 

To make this event special we will be joined by the Executive Director of UNODC Mr. Yury Fedotov who will also be visiting India during this time and is keen to join in for the soccer match !
