Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

The webinar will seek to improve people’s confidence to demand and use good quality evidence by: making the case for the use of evidence; providing information on tools that can assist in deciding when evidence is good enough; highlighting examples of where third sector organisations have successfully used these tools. Speakers from "Dartington Social Research Unit" and "Bond" will provide an overview of standards of evidence: examining evidence principles as well as hierarchies. in from stakeholders – including small charities and voluntary organisations- for standards of evidence and avoid excessive burdens and disincentives for using evidence?
