F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Gender Equity and Inclusiveness in Volunteer Networks

Greetings to everyone here!

Wishing on this auspicious International Women's Day. Good to know that the Government of Telangana has declared holiday for the women on 8th March 2021. Same should resonate in other states soon.

Pleased to initiate the discussion on the topic "Gender Equity and Inclusiveness in Volunteer Networks". Though this topic have been deliberated earlier and not new to many. However, we all can delve into the following aspects and lean from each other; Honestly, I have these thoughts to learn and implement.

1. Designing a governance structure with gender equity and inclusiveness approach in a Volunteer Network. Focus on the "Design Thinking" aspects while designing.

2. Creating a professional volunteer network with gender balance and ample opportunities for the young, experienced and experts associating with the network. Focus on creating the right "Work Balance", learning and development.

3. Multi-tasking attitude of women, keeps them doing better and better. Focus on "Switch off and Switch on" mode form work with great professional balance, we all should learn.

4. SDG5-Gender Equality brining in gender equity and inclusiveness, to bridge the existing gaps in a country like India or similar nature. Focus on "Immediate Gaps that can be Bridged".

Encourage everyone to participate. Critics are welcome too.
