F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter
Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

For evaluators and others who are participating in the PHA 4 this November in Bangladesh ...
PHA 4 focuses on health equity, in line with the principles of WHO's declaration on primary health care at Alma Ata. The trend toward Universal Health Coverage often focuses on private health insurers and other inequitable health financing mechanisms that exclude services for the poor, women and vulnerable groups. With health evaluators, researchers, advocates and activists from Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Global North, PHA 4 will examine factors that affect the right to health at national, regional and global levels.
In advance of and beyond PHA4, the People's Health Movement (PHM) wants to advance its campaign work around “Gender Justice and Health”. Those of you who are going to be in Bangladesh for the Assembly as well as those who are not, but would be interested in being part of the campaign, we invite your ideas, inputs and support in taking forward this conversation, and campaign.
