F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Query: Gender study on Economic Empowerment-business opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs

Dear Colleagues,
We are conducting a brief study on enhancing business opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs specifically with respect to two points:

1. Procurement gender gap-What is the business case to close the procurement gender gap? - Why businesses should care about the problem. What barriers prevent this gender gap from closing? - Why the problem persists - forming the basis for how can be mitigated
2. Supplier Chain Diversity
3. Women Owned Business and Entrepreneurship
These were the two questions for which we need to get some data / information regarding drivers or obstacles for the 6 countries - Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mexico, Columbia, Turkey and Nigeria.  All secondary data is fine as along as we have source
It is based on secondary research and literature review. I would appreciate any references to studies conducted or data sources that can help us answer basic questions with data - quantitative and/or qualitative around barriers and solutions.
Last date 6th Sep'21
Would appreciate your assistance in this regard.

Hi Karon,

ILO's 'GET Ahead' tool (Gender&Entrepreneurship Together) has been used in many countries. A more recent survey was done on "Empowering Women at Work: Policies and Practices for Gender Equallity in Supply Chains" (publ. 12/2020) that may provide some conceptual and hansd-on material for use in training & workshops, although both are not specifically targeting the countries you are looking at. Hope this may prove useful, all the best, Susanne

Thanks so much Susanna. Will check it out Appreciate it.
