Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

The African Evaluation Association (AfrEA) is pleased to announce that the 9th AfrEA International Conference 2019 will be taking place on 11 – 15 March 2019 in Abidjan, Cote DIvoire.

 This conference is the premier event in the African Evaluation sector and acts as the foundation for promoting and advocating AfrEA’s “Made in Africa” approach, and allows knowledge sharing, collaboration and networking with a wide range of international organisations and individuals.

The theme for this conference is Accelerating Africa’s Development: Strengthening National Evaluation Ecosystems”
