Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is not just a social issue, it’s a systemic challenge that undermines agricultural value chains.

In rural and isolated areas, GBV threatens women’s safety, limits their economic participation, and weakens food security. When women cannot work safely, entire communities lose resilience, and businesses lose productivity. Climate resilience strategies that overlook gendered risks leave communities exposed and women vulnerable.

Ending GBV is essential for building equitable, sustainable, and climate-resilient agri-food systems; and it’s not only a human rights imperative, but also central to climate adaptation and economic stability.

The good news? Solutions work. Programs like the Women’s Safety Accelerator Fund (WSAF) demonstrate that addressing GBV can enhance productivity and strengthen workforce morale and brand reputation. Safe, inclusive workplaces aren’t just good ethics, they’re smart business.

Please be welcome to participate on 3rd August, 2017, for a GLoCon short film launch and photo exhibition.

GLoCon means 'global and local community conversation'. Four communities will be celebrated, one in each of Zambia, USA (Atlanta), China, and India. Critical foundations of integrated mission are explored.

Why and how is neighbourhood a core foundation for care and change?

How can health and faith systems adapt to support local community strength for response?

How is personal faith a determinant of sustainable change?

The launch will be held in Café 101, on the lower ground floor of The

Salvation Army International Headquarters,101 Queen Victoria St,

London, EC4V 4VH.

The Salvation Army International Headquarters and Global Connections

are jointly hosting the launch. The international leader of The Salvation

Army, General André Cox, will attend, and Martin Lee of Global

Connections, and ECHO, will facilitate.

Please be there by 10.20 a.m. for a10.30 a.m. start. The film will be introduced and viewed, followed by a discussion time.

At 11.30 a.m. we will move to a photo exhibition, prior to sharing a light lunch, concluding by 12.30 p.m.
