Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is not just a social issue, it’s a systemic challenge that undermines agricultural value chains.

In rural and isolated areas, GBV threatens women’s safety, limits their economic participation, and weakens food security. When women cannot work safely, entire communities lose resilience, and businesses lose productivity. Climate resilience strategies that overlook gendered risks leave communities exposed and women vulnerable.

Ending GBV is essential for building equitable, sustainable, and climate-resilient agri-food systems; and it’s not only a human rights imperative, but also central to climate adaptation and economic stability.

The good news? Solutions work. Programs like the Women’s Safety Accelerator Fund (WSAF) demonstrate that addressing GBV can enhance productivity and strengthen workforce morale and brand reputation. Safe, inclusive workplaces aren’t just good ethics, they’re smart business.

As a Research Manager, you will lead and shape rigorous evidence generation at the intersection of gender, AI, and digital systems, informing more inclusive digital policies and platforms in India. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys geeking out over measurement challenges, causal questions, and the nuances of designing evaluations that answer what works, for whom, and why. We welcome applications from researchers with strong mixed-methods expertise, experience designing theory or experiment based evaluations, and a deep commitment to gender equality and digital inclusion.

Must-haves:
• 4+ years of experience in evaluation and applied research
• Ability to manage data quality, lead statistical analysis, and translate findings into clear, compelling reports and briefs

Event Description

This is an invitation to register for the on-line “Transitions to Sustainable Development – Social scientists meeting the challenge” e-conference which will run from 25 August – 8 September.

This e-conference builds on the challenges set out through the priority action steps suggested in the World Social Science Report 2013 summary.This e-conference aims to:

  • showcase the range of social science initiatives addressing global and local environmental change
  • identify ways in which the social sciences can help society manage transitions to sustainable development
  • look at how to strengthen the use of the social sciences in addressing global and local environmental change
  • support social science leadership in integrated research
  • engage with new colleagues and strengthen the social science community of practice

The e-conference will be run as a moderated online discussion using the Transitions to Sustainable Development (TSD) network Forum, and will be hosted on the “engaged Social Science / Hui Rangahau Tahi” (eSocSci) website. An archive of the conference discussion and selected blog postings will be mirrored on the eSocSci and Learning for Sustainability sites.

This e-conference is expected to have wide relevance - and will be of particular interest to social scientists and those who use and integrate social science, including research, community and sector leaders, indigenous groups, policy makers and R&D funders/donors. Participation is free, and there are no travel costs.
