F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter
Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Do you value information on outcomes including unexpected ones? Do you want to hear how you have made a difference to people’s lives in their own words and what is important to them ? Is your reporting on numbers and outputs not useful for you or your client ?
A 2 day course in the Most Significant Change (MSC) technique in Berlin (July 21/22) or London (July 31, Aug 1) will provide you with the knowledge, skills and a plan to meet these needs.
MSC is a story based participatory monitoring & evaluation technique ideally suited to providing qualitative information on project /program impact. MSC is also an excellent tool for encouraging stakeholder participation, surfacing stakeholder values (very useful in gender evaluation), fostering organisational learning and program improvement. It is used widely in international development and social change projects and is currently being used by CARE in a gender empowerment program.
This is a unique opportunity to have MSC training in Europe from an experienced MSC professional who has delivered training in MSC over 30 times across several sectors and countries .
