Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Please find here and attached the terms of reference for the final evaluation of a 20-month project funded by the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF). The project is part of Equality Now's long-running work with the Africa-wide coalition of WROs, SOAWR. The project, which began in January last year and will end in September of this year, aims to support and strengthen the ability of the coalition and its members, particularly through its Regional Clusters, to undertake collective action to promote the ratification, domestication, and implementation of the Maputo Protocol.
The consultancy is expected to be conducted largely or completely remotely.
