F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Request for Proposal for Gender and Social Equity Research in Horticulture

Gender and Evaluation Colleagues,

My group, the Horticulture Innovation Lab, has released a request for proposals for research in gender and social equity in horticulture.  The request is here:  http://horticulture.ucdavis.edu/main/funding.htm.  

Quick details:

This is for 5 years of research for $1.5 million.  The lead investigator must be from the United States but the collaborators can be from other countries.  The work must take place in the Feed the Future countries as part of the US initiative, Feed the Future.

I am interested in this project. Will go through the website link provided and get back to you. I am in the International Horticulture Congress, Brisbane at the moment and will share our experience (M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) and share with you on how HOW HORTICULTURE REMEDIES HELP WOMEN AND CHILDREN GET RID OF NUTRITION MALADIES..
