South Asia Regional Consultation on National Evaluation Policies

“South Asia regional consultation on National Evaluation Policies” was successfully conducted in Colombo on 18 and 19 September. Parliamentarians, VOPE leaders, govt officers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka and India attended the consultation. Also regional VOPEs (CoE-SA, APEA, UNEDAP, AIPA) and representatives of international organizations such as 3ie, CLEAR South Asia, UNDP, UNICEF attended the event. Representing AIPA, a Myanmar parliamentarian attended the event. 

Hon. Deputy Speaker of the Sri Lanka parliament Mr. Chandima Weerakkody attended the inauguration session. EvalPartners co-chairs Marco and Natalia also attended the inauguration session. More importantly parliamentarians joined declaring 2015 as the international year of evaluation. He emphasized the need for NEP in South Asian countries. Country reps prepared roadmap for establishment of NEP in respective countries. It was historical as first ever regional consultation with parliamentarians and VOPEs regarding NEPs.

The regional consultation was organized by Parliamentarians Forum for Development Evaluation with support from International Organization for Cooperation in Evaluation (IOCE) and EvalPartners and in collaboration with Sri Lanka Evaluation Association (SLEvA) and UN Women. Please find photos and the agenda attached.
