F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter
Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

About the Event
Independent evaluations of the gender and development work have recently been completed at the Asian Development Bank, European Investment Bank, International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the World Bank. This event will bring together the heads of the respective evaluation units to reflect on the progress made, explore similar findings across agencies, and raise challenging questions regarding mainstreaming gender issues, the play of incentives, and the measurement of results.
This interactive panel will conclude with lessons learned for more effective gender equality integration in lending operations and policy dialogues.
