Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is not just a social issue, it’s a systemic challenge that undermines agricultural value chains.

In rural and isolated areas, GBV threatens women’s safety, limits their economic participation, and weakens food security. When women cannot work safely, entire communities lose resilience, and businesses lose productivity. Climate resilience strategies that overlook gendered risks leave communities exposed and women vulnerable.

Ending GBV is essential for building equitable, sustainable, and climate-resilient agri-food systems; and it’s not only a human rights imperative, but also central to climate adaptation and economic stability.

The good news? Solutions work. Programs like the Women’s Safety Accelerator Fund (WSAF) demonstrate that addressing GBV can enhance productivity and strengthen workforce morale and brand reputation. Safe, inclusive workplaces aren’t just good ethics, they’re smart business.

Hiring a Research Manager to join us at the Gender x Digital (GxD) Hub at LEAD at Krea University, Delhi.

As a Research Manager, you will lead and shape rigorous evidence generation at the intersection of gender, AI, and digital systems, informing more inclusive digital policies and platforms in India. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys geeking out over measurement challenges, causal questions, and the nuances of designing evaluations that answer what works, for whom, and why. We welcome applications from researchers with strong mixed-methods expertise, experience designing theory or experiment based evaluations, and a deep commitment to gender equality and digital inclusion.

Must-haves:
• 4+ years of experience in evaluation and applied research
• Ability to manage data quality, lead statistical analysis, and translate findings into clear, compelling reports and briefs
• Strong interest in gender equality, livelihoods, and digital inclusion
• Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-paced environment, as the ecosystem evolves and pivots to new areas of inquiry

Dr.G.Uma completed her Master degree in Political Science in Madras Christian College and specialized in Gender and Governance in her doctoral programme in Gandhigram Rural Institute.

She has 10 years of work experience in the field of governance and development with gender perspective which includes six years of teaching experience in the Central and State Universities. Since the completion of her Master degree, she involves in the research activities particularly in the areas of local self governance, social capital and development issues with gender perspective. Her PhD thesis focuses on women in grass roots governance and Critical Mass theory. Her research outcome serves to redefine the policy at the micro level and the stakeholders recognize the significance of federating women leaders at grassroots for better delivery of services.

She is part of the programme development team of Master Programme in Gender and Development Studies in IGNOU. She contributes for designing and developing courses in gender and development studies, agriculture and sustainable development with gender focus. Central European University has awarded with a fellowship to complete a course on “Fiscal Decentralization and Local Financial Management”. She visited University of Cologne, Germany as Albert Global Guest Researcher in the Centre for Modern Indian Studies, Faculty of Economics and Social Science from September 2014 to December 2014 and November 2012 to December, 2012. Her research assistance was sponsored by DAAD.

Currently she works for the BDP Elective Course on “Gender Sensitization: Culture, Society and Change and PG Diploma Programme in “Gender, Agriculture and Sustainable Development”. 

Her area of interest includes Grassroots Governance, Gender and Development, Public Policy and Social Capital
