Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is not just a social issue, it’s a systemic challenge that undermines agricultural value chains.

In rural and isolated areas, GBV threatens women’s safety, limits their economic participation, and weakens food security. When women cannot work safely, entire communities lose resilience, and businesses lose productivity. Climate resilience strategies that overlook gendered risks leave communities exposed and women vulnerable.

Ending GBV is essential for building equitable, sustainable, and climate-resilient agri-food systems; and it’s not only a human rights imperative, but also central to climate adaptation and economic stability.

The good news? Solutions work. Programs like the Women’s Safety Accelerator Fund (WSAF) demonstrate that addressing GBV can enhance productivity and strengthen workforce morale and brand reputation. Safe, inclusive workplaces aren’t just good ethics, they’re smart business.

I am a consummate GENDER, GBV AND CONFLICT PREVENTION SPECIALIST WITH OVER 10 years of experience in prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in 20 countries across Pacific, South-East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Survivors and stakeholders depend on me to deliver expert and practical implementation strategies on mitigating GBV in developmental and humanitarian contexts. A significant aspect of my work has entailed supporting and complementing existing structures on national, regional and global levels, specifically: social norms and behaviour change, technical support, gender and GBV mainstreaming, case management, capacity building, coordination, institutional strengthening, and financial management. I have managed projects under BMZ, DFiD, ECHO, EU, MSF, OXFAM and UNFPA. This experience paired with my strong communication skills has been critical in advocating for access to health care and social services interventions for survivors, developing one-stop centers, contributing to relevant tools, guidelines, policies and bills affecting GBV and CSO shadow reporting on CEDAW. I speak English (C2), Swahili (B1), Spanish (A2) and French (A2). I am flexible and can work independently as well in teams and exceed expectations given the limited availability of my leader.
