F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter
Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Dear Evaluation Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the publication of an Exemplar article I authored on the early years of EvalPartners. It is a real story based on interviews with a few people, that aims to convey how each of us, as individuals, working within our different contexts, interacted and together shaped our community. The article is also an opportunity to share reflections on lessons learned and advice for future generations of EvalPartners leaders.
I believe my interviewees enjoyed their interviews, but then felt some reluctance at being singled out in writing. Still everyone finally agreed that the article will serve to show how important each of us is to our collective success in EvalPartners, as well as how much we have achieved. My gratitude to those named, to the hundreds EvalPartners participants not named, and to the American Journal of Evaluation that took a risk with a very different kind of article.
Here is a short excerpt from Marco’s story:
I hope you enjoy it,
Tessie
