Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

The VII Gender and Economic Policy Discussion forum, organized by the Institute of Social Studies Trust (ISST) in association with Heinrich Böll Stiftung, on the politics and economics of FDI through a gender lens was held at the India Habitat Centre on the 9th of April . Presentations were made by Ms. Ranja Sengupta (Third World Network), Dr. Arpita Mukherjee (ICRIER) and Ms. Anandi Venkateswaran (Govt. of India); chaired by Ms. Sarojini Ganju Thakur IAS (Retd.). The discussion revolved around the rationale for FDI, its impact in different sectors and on employment and how one needs to address the implications through policy interventions.
