F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Guidelines for Measuring Results in Women's Economic Empowerment

I thought this network might be interested in some new guidance produced by the DCED: Guidelines for Measuring Results in Women's Economic Empowerment.

The guidelines include practical advice on integrating women's economic empowerment into a monitoring system. Drawing on good practices and lessons learned from Making Markets Work for the Chars (M4C) and the Alliances Lesser Caucasus Programme (ALCP) in Georgia, the guidelines in particular offer suggestions for measuring women's economic empowerment at the household level. It draws on the monitoring framework of the DCED Standard for Results Measurement, a practical framework for measuring, managing, and demonstrating results.

You can download the guidelines here: http://www.enterprise-development.org/page/download?id=2433

We also ran a webinar on the topic, with presentations from field programmes. You can find a record of the discussion and a recording here: http://www.enterprise-development.org/page/wee-webinar

Comments and questions would be very welcome!
