Event Description

UNFPA and Women Enabled International cordially invite you to join a side event to the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

COVID-19 at the Intersection of Gender and Disability: Ensuring a Gender- and Disability-Inclusive Response and Recovery
Date: Tuesday, December 1, 2020
Time: 10am to 11:15 am New York time (15:00 to 16:15 GMT)
Co-sponsored by: UN Women, UN Partnership for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD), CIMUNIDIS, Disabled Women in Africa, HYPE Sri Lanka, and My Life My Choice.

Women, girls, and gender non-conforming persons with disabilities have been disproportionately denied access to healthcare, experienced violence, and have been unable to meet their basic needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to discrimination based on both gender and disability. During this event, advocates from around the globe will relay experiences from their communities and offer thoughts on how to ensure a more gender- and disability-inclusive COVID-19 response moving forward.
CART, International Sign Language, and English-Spanish simultaneous interpretation will be available. If you require other reasonable accommodations to participate in this event, please contact info@womenenabled.org.
