Official Launching of EvalJordan, and conduction the Jordan Evaluation Days

Official Launching of EvalJordan, and conduction the Jordan Evaluation Days

26-28 May, 2015

EvalJordan was officially launched under the Patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister of Jordan, and executed The Jordan Evaluation Days orientation workshop.

The orientation workshop was conducted with support from the King Abdallah II Development Fund and UNICEF, and covered a wide range of topics related to monitoring and evaluation and it’s critical role to development and humanitarian work in bringing concrete improvements in the lives of the children and families in Jordan.

The workshop took place within the National Evaluation Days in Jordan to advocate for better monitoring and evaluation capacity and practices in Jordan and to commemorate the International year of Evaluation 2015. More than 40 participants from various ministries and public institutions of Jordan greatly appreciated the orientation and requested EvalJordan for continued specific and focused trainings that could be adapted to the specific needs of the institutions.

EvalJordan was established in 2014 as a Voluntary Organization for Professional Evaluation (VOPE) aimed at improving evaluation practices and methods; supporting the government and civil society to make informed policies and decisions; encouraging and advocating the use of equity based and gender responsive M&E systems; and improving access to local, regional and international expertise and professional events in the area of monitoring and evaluation.

These priorities are in line with the plans to promote evaluation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) by Evaluators Network (EvalMENA) and will contribute to the Global Evaluation agenda 2016-2020.

This is so good to read Asela that evaluation year events are happening all over the world and new VOPEs are coming up. What is heartening that government is involved in many of these activities. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Asela Thanks! And all the best.

I hope there is a panel on gender and equity issues in evaluation in MENA. Next year I want to be there!

All the very best for such a wonderful initiative and looking forward to learn and share experiences.

Best wishes

Dilip
