F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

It relates strongly to the evaluation of public policies and gender equality by parliaments, as it is about Gender responsive budgeting.

Request for case studies on gender equality and climate change mitigation in agrifood systems

Dear G&E community,

I’m currently working with IRRI for a scoping study on gender equality and climate mitigation technologies and practices in agrifood systems. I’m trying to pull together case studies from agroecology, agroforestry, conservation agriculture, livestock systems, renewable energy, and water conservation that have shown positive examples of women’s resilience/empowerment being enhanced through the uptake of mitigation technologies/practices in these areas.

Given the group’s collective expertise, I am reaching out to the G&E network to request recommendations on positive models and case studies of climate mitigation in agri-food systems that have demonstrated gender-responsive results.

If you are interested in sharing, please reply to this thread, or you can reply directly to my email at tavenka05@gmail.com

Thank you and kind regards,

Katie
