Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

With great joy, Global Fund for Children (GFC) and its partners are pleased to invite you to the webinar: "Sports for Development: Experiences from Latin America". 

We will have Spanish-English simultaneous translation. You are welcome to join us!  

This conversation will take place next Friday, February 10, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Mexico's time). We will have the participation of five representatives of grassroots organizations from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Colombia, who will share experiences, challenges, achievements and learnings when integrating programs and methodologies that use sports practice to activate processes for the comprehensive development of children and youth. 

Sport can be an effective tool to build communities of peace and promote the leadership of girls, boys and young people. We invite you to be inspired by the work of our partner organizations!
