Globally, one in three women has experienced some form of physical and sexual violence in their lifetimes (UN Women). Emerging data indicates that since the COVID-19 outbreak, various forms of violence against women and girls have intensified. The combination of economic shocks, restricted mobility and interrupted access to support services and networks have further increased women's vulnerability to violence. In part 3 of this webinar series, we examine rising gender-based violence through the 'lens of space' – public, private and digital, and hope to hear from experts and practitioners on 'what works' to address inequitable power structures and social norms.
Supported by Ford Foundation, this discussion series is part of a research program that seeks to unpack the pathways through which gender-based violence manifests. The program will convene diverse stakeholders with an aim to strengthen the interface between research, program implementation and civil society campaigns.
