The Campbell Collaboration and the Cochrane Collaboration are global organisations that use standards and guidelines for conducting and reporting high-quality evidence in the form of systematic reviews. These organisations have had a presence in India for some time, with Campbell based in New Delhi, and Cochrane South Asia based at Christian Medical College, Vellore.
Each is committed to supporting sound, policy-relevant research through evidence generation across social sciences, clinical, medical, and public health topics. Together they are convening a half-day event along with Department of Health Research, Government of India.
The goal of the event is to discuss the evidence generation process conducted by these two organisations, the use of such evidence for policy decision making in India, and the role of evidence to support policy debates and decisions in India, and for creating a culture of ‘evidence-based policy’ in addressing the various social, medical and public health challenges.
