F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Event Description

FHI 360 Virtual Roundtable

Join a roundtable with leaders from FCDO and USAID on October 6th, 2021, to discuss how both agencies, their delivery partners, and partner governments are fostering systemic change for gender equality in education, with a focus on adolescent girls. The discussion brings together FCDO and USAID leaders in gender equality and education, adolescent girls, national government representatives, and delivery partners. It will demonstrate how sustainable partnerships can maximize global efforts to build back better in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, support systemic change so that more girls can stay in school, be safe and learn, and open up a deeper dialogue about inclusive education.
