Hon. Rangina Kargar, Member of Afghan Parliament and founder member of Parliamentarians Forum for Development Evaluation made a presentation to the United nations M&E group in Afghanistan on 20th February 2014. She highlighted the need for national evaluation policy and system in Afghanistan and shared plans to establish it together with key stakeholders. She also emphasized the need for strong civil society engagement with parliamentarians for the transparent and accountable systems in the country where UN can also play an important role. According to the mapping (status of national evaluation policies) conducted by the Parliamentarians Forum, only 20 countries around the world have established national evaluation policies. Afghanistan is not included in those 20.

Thanks Asela for keeping us updated about these critical developments. Its wonderful how MP is taking lead in advocating for a strong national evaluation system. Would you know if any efforts were undertaken to orient and engage the Parliamentarian?
