Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Call for Expression​s of Interest for the EvalPartne​rs' Evaluation

Dear All,
 
EvalPartners, a global initiative to promote evaluation capacities, seeks an external evaluator or team of evaluators to implement a retrospective evaluation of its activities to date, and prospective developmental evaluation of its plans through 2015, the International Year of Evaluation (EvalYear).
 
The deadline for submitting brief Expressions of Interest in response to this call is 9 May 2014They should be sent to IOCE@earthlink.net
 
A total budget of $50,000 has been allocated to this evaluation including travel costs.  The evaluation is expected that it will require part-time work over about six months, from July through December, 2014. 
 
EvalPartners is particularly looking for persons with demonstrated experience in facilitating developmental evaluation. Experience conducting such evaluations with regional and/or international networks such as EvalPartners would be an added plus in the selection process. French, Spanish and Arabic would also be a plus.
