Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

EvalMENA conference panel on engaging Parliamentarians in Evaluation

EvalMENA conference is held in Amman, Jordan from 28-30 April 2014 on “Mainstreaming Evaluation Theory and Practice in the MENA region”. On 29th a panel “Linking Evaluation to Policy Making: the role of Parliamentarians” was conducted participated by parliamentarians represented from the region and Sri Lanka.

Opening remarks were made by Dr. Ahmed Bencheikh, President of the Moroccan Evaluation Association followed by presentations from parliamentarians. Dr. Roula Al Hroub, Member of Parliament – Jordan, Hon. Rachida Tahri, Member of Parliament – Morocco, Dr. Najat Al Asttal, Member of Parliament – Palestine, Hon. Kabir Hashim, Member of Parliament from Sri Lanka presented how evaluation can be mainstreamed at national level. This is the first time a regional panel of parliamentarians in evaluation was conducted in MENA region.
