F Njahîra Wangarî - Book Chapter

Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Recently at the African evaluation conference in Yaounde, Cameroon, we celebrated the official launch of the new BetterEvaluation site (www.betterevaluation.org) - an international collaboration which provides a free access platform for sharing information about monitoring and evaluation methods and processes.

As part of our celebrations, we gave away five books on site - and made available free information on these topics for all users. You can access the free information here http://betterevaluation.org/blog/five_days_free_gifts

I was so unlucky not to might have won one of those lovely books. I'm glad that a Nigerian won one. Thanks to BetterEvaluation for exhibiting those wonderful materials at the AfrEA Conference. I grabbed all that I could grab on their table/stand. I'm setting the materials up alongside that of others at Educare Trust Youth Centre next week. All the best.
