Institute of Social Studies Trust (ISST) and EvalGender+ present workshop on Empowering Voices with Participatory Video/ Photo-voice

Facilitators: Ralf Otto and Simon Koolwijk

Format: Input, film screening, exercise in breakout groups

Overview of session / objectives:

-        Introduction to participatory video: process, requirements, what it can, what it cannot 

-        Case studies and watching footage with stories from refugees in Uganda and in Turkey

-        Small group work on the method’s added value for research, monitoring and evaluation as well as for advocacy

-        Plenary – Q&A including what it takes to incorporate the method

Simon Koolwijk - filmmaker and facilitator: 10+ years experience in conducting participatory video interventions. Simon is both a filmmaker and (online) facilitator and has combined both expertise areas into participatory video interventions in the areas of involving people's voices in humanitarian crises interventions, social accountability processes, youth development and biodiversity and nature preservation projects.
