Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is not just a social issue, it’s a systemic challenge that undermines agricultural value chains.
In rural and isolated areas, GBV threatens women’s safety, limits their economic participation, and weakens food security. When women cannot work safely, entire communities lose resilience, and businesses lose productivity. Climate resilience strategies that overlook gendered risks leave communities exposed and women vulnerable.
Ending GBV is essential for building equitable, sustainable, and climate-resilient agri-food systems; and it’s not only a human rights imperative, but also central to climate adaptation and economic stability.
The good news? Solutions work. Programs like the Women’s Safety Accelerator Fund (WSAF) demonstrate that addressing GBV can enhance productivity and strengthen workforce morale and brand reputation. Safe, inclusive workplaces aren’t just good ethics, they’re smart business.

Despite the long tradition of participatory approaches to evaluation, there remains confusion and doubt about what it means and how to do it effectively.
Is it the same as voice and beneficiary feedback? What levels of participation are desirable and possible in different situations? What processes and decisions might be undertaken in a participatory way?
For the past month on the BetterEvaluation site, guest bloggers Irene Guijt and Leslie Groves have been exploring issuesaround participations in evaluation (which you can read here http://betterevaluation.org/blog. )
Now, in response to a high level of interest, we've scheduled a question and answer webinar on Wednesday where you'll have a chance to ask lingering questions and share your comments on the strategies they've proposed.
The webinar will be held at 12 noon London time - click here to convert that to your time zone. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?year=2015&month=7&day=29&hour=12&min=0&sec=0&p1=136
Please pre-register - we only have 100 participant slots available - and put up your questions on the registration page here http://betterevaluation.org/event/participation_in_evaluation.

hi. it looks like i was unable to log into the webnair
Yes, Bessa, the webinar will be recorded and made available for listening at a time that will suit you. So feel free to submit a question or comment for discussion.
The webinar will focus solely on Questions/Comments and Answers rather than repeating the content of the 4 blog posts, so it would be useful to read these beforehand. You can read them here - http://betterevaluation.org/blog/1219
the issue for me will be timing (7AM EDT), and as I am traveling, it may be problematic for me to get online at that hour (I depend on someone else's connection)
