Event Description

The USAID-funded Health Policy Project (HPP) is pleased to announce the next Webinar in our series hosted by the Community of Practice on Scale-up and Gender, Policy and Measurement (GPM). Ashley Jackson from Population Services International (PSI) will lead the presentation. The world's most populous French-speaking country, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has one of the world's lowest rates of modern contraceptive use: eight percent among all women of reproductive age. In the DRC, the majority of men and women say male partners are the primary decision makers when it comes to women's health (DHS, 2014). In collaboration with IntraHealth International, PSI and its network member in DRC, the Association de Sante Familiale (ASF), integrated gender analysis into marketing research for a campaign to constructively engage men in family planning. Learn how the pairing of marketing and gender analysis perspectives yielded audience insights that would not have emerged from either approach alone.

About the speaker:

ASHLEY JACKSON is a technical advisor for reproductive health at PSI where she provides country programs and partners with technical assistance to integrate gender considerations and expand access to contraception. Prior to joining PSI, Ashley spent three years working with EngenderHealth on HIV and family planning initiatives in Africa under the RESPOND Project. She has also worked with Management Sciences for Health to strengthen health systems in Haiti and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Ms. Jackson holds a Master's Degree in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
