Abstract
"This chapter blends African oral and written narratives, lived experiences with a genetic chronic disability and a Roman Catholic upbringing. These will be interrogated to illustrate the role of alternative explanations in influencing advocacy and activism for the lives, wellbeing, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Particularly, this chapter is an exploration of self-identity and how persons with disabilities are conditioned to view ourselves in specific ways while highlighting alternative perceptions available is presented by the author. It engages the works of several African and African-descendent authors who feature persons with disabilities as characters in their books and relies on narrative prosthesis as the basis for this engagement."

Event Description

Voluntary Organizations of Professional Evaluators (VOPE) have played a pivotal role in raising public awareness about evaluation and its contributions to good governance, evidence-based decision making, and capacitating civil society. By building evaluation leadership and capacity, advancing the exchange of evaluation theory and practice, and addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the evaluation profession and practices, VOPEs have led the reframing of developmental problems. This webinar explores the experiences of VOPEs in South Asia, and reflects on their role in strengthening the evaluation ecosystem at large.

In this webinar, we will be talking about:

• A reflection of the journey undertaken by VOPEs in South Asia, and the future of evaluation as a profession.
• Experiences of VOPEs – participation, engagement, and knowledge exchange in South Asia and a shared vision of success
• Role of VOPE’s in strengthening the evaluation ecosystem
